Our Work

Accreditation is an important way that we can demonstrate that our services are meeting the highest standards. Banyule Community Health has achieved accreditation for the following:

Quality Improvement Council standards (QIC)

Quality Improvement Council Health and Community Service Standards are the overarching accreditation standards for the whole organisation. Banyule Community Health received accreditation against the QIC standards 7th Edition in September 2021 with a focus on clinical services, counselling, and integrated mental health services in Community programs.

National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) – Dental

Our Oral Health service was assessed against the NSQHS Standards 2nd Edition and achieved accreditation in September 2018.

Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS)

Our Oral Health service was accredited against the DIAS Standards in February 2021, enabling us to continue to provide Orthopantomogram (OPG) services.

Royal Australian College of General Practice Accreditation Standards (RACGP)

Our General Practice was re-accredited by Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) against the RACGP Accreditation standards 5th edition in February 2020.

Aged Care Quality Standards

Banyule Community Health’s Allied Health Services that are funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program were accredited against the Aged Care Standards in May 2017. We are awaiting an assessment by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (AACQA), against the recently reviewed Aged Care Quality Standards, which will take place during 2021.

National Accreditation Standards

The West Heidelberg Community Legal Service has been assessed against the NAS standards level two. We achieved accreditation in February 2019.

National Disability Insurance Scheme

Banyule Community Health Allied health services received accreditation against the NDIS standards in May 2020.

Child Safe Standards

Banyule Community Health works to comply with the Child Safe Standards and in so doing provide a healthcare environment that is both safe and empowering for children.

1. Access: You can access healthcare services that meet your needs.
2. Safety: You will receive safe and high quality care. We believe that every child and adult has
   the right to feel safe and welcome. You can let us know if you feel unsafe at any time and we can
   provide you with support and information. We might also ask you questions about your safety.
3. Respect: You are treated in a dignified and fair way. Your individual differences will be
   recognised and respected.
4. Partnership: You can include the people that you want in your healthcare planning and
   decision making. You can make decisions with your healthcare provider, to the extent that you
   choose and are able to. We welcome your questions and encourage you to have open and
   honest communication with us.
5. Information: You are given information in a way you can understand, so you can give
   informed consent. If something goes wrong with your healthcare, we will be open about it. You
   can access your health information. We will help you, when you need it, to understand your
   health information.
6. Privacy: Your personal information will be kept safe and confidential in accordance with
   Australian laws.
7. Give Feedback: You can share your experience or complain about your care without it
   affecting how we treat you. We will listen to your concerns and deal with them properly and
   promptly as feedback can help us to improve the quality of our care and services.
