Cultural Diversity and Inclusion

Our services are culturally safe and inclusive of people of all cultural backgrounds and faiths. We welcome refugees and asylum seekers.

Banyule Community Health is committed to building healthy, inclusive and just communities. We strive to provide person-centred health and wellbeing services that meet the needs of our communities.

Our communities are diverse. We respect and support the health and wellbeing of everyone who walks through our doors.

We believe that every child and adult has the right to feel safe and welcome. Let us know if you feel unsafe at any time, and we can provide you with support and information.

Diversity and Inclusion Plan

Banyule Community Health consulted widely with community and staff to develop our Diversity & Inclusion Plan for 2021 – 2025. This plan outlines our commitment to provide culturally safe and inclusive services and work environments. It sets out the Goals and the Actions we will take to create change.

As a community health organisation, it’s important to us that our services and workplace are culturally safe and inclusive of all people. We do this by:

  • Our workforce reflecting the diverse communities that we serve
  • Ensuring community members experience high levels of access and inclusion
  • Being a strong voice for diversity and inclusion across the communities we serve
  • Ensuring our service sites are visually welcoming and accessible
  • Providing accessible written and verbal information
  • Providing staff with learning opportunities to enhance the cultural safety of community members
  • Listening to what community members want and need

Banyule Community Health are signatories to the national  Racism. It Stops With Me campaign that provides tools and resources to help people and organisations learn about racism and take action to create change. We are taking action to upskill our workforce to address racism.
