On Wednesday 20th November 2013 the Banyule Community Health Board Chair (John Ferraro) and Deputy Chair (David McKenzie) and some BCH staff attended the Victorian Public Health Care Awards.

BCH were  finalists in the following two categories in what is a very competitive field with independent judges chosen from across the health sector:

1. Primary Health Service of the Year  for the achievements of the entire agency.

2. Outstanding achievement by an Individual or Team in Healthcare for the work of the Aboriginal Health Team

Banyule Community Health has been working in partnership with Dental Health Services Victoria on the Smiles 4 Miles Program since September 2012, raising awareness about the importance of healthy eating and oral health promotion amongst kindergarten children in Banyule.

BCH is expecting over 250 people to attend its Open Day on 23rd October 2013 at the West Heidelberg site.  Utlising the spacious foyer, Thomas Rossell Room and the Childrens Space, BCH staff and community groups will be on display highlighting a special “Passport to good health” approach.  There will be opportunities to speak directly to health staff and take away a range of health information and goodies.
