I’m pleased to inform our members, staff, volunteers, partners, and clients that Michael Smith has been elected as the Chair of the Banyule Community Health Board. Michael takes on the role after Chris Deakin decided to step down from the role last month.
Everyone at Banyule Community Health is incredibly thankful for Chris’ dedication and commitment to Banyule Community Health and her role as Chair for the past 3 years. Chris’ leadership and support through Covid-19 was instrumental in ensuring Banyule Community Health was well placed to support its community and be responsive to the challenges and opportunities. We are pleased that Chris will continue on the Board.
Michael has been a Board Director since 2015, lives locally and has a strong connection to the community and broader region that Banyule Community Health serves. Michael is currently the CEO of Eastern Community Legal Centre, and brings a lifelong commitment to working across service systems that support healthy, inclusive and just communities. Michael is keen to strengthen the already strong connection that Banyule Community Health has with its community and partners, and continue to develop a strong and diverse Board to represent our community.
