Holstep Health – a new chapter in community care

February 6, 2025 · News, Our Stories

We are thrilled to announce Holstep Health – the new name for the merged organisation of Banyule Community Health and Merri Health!

Holstep Health reflects our deep commitment to holistic, wrap-around care that supports every aspect of a person’s well-being—physical, mental, social, financial, and legal.

The new name was developed through extensive consultation, with input from more than 300 clients, community members, partners and employees.

“Hol” comes from holistic, representing our approach to treating the whole person with wrap-around care. It highlights our belief that health is interconnected, and true care requires attention to all areas of a person’s life.

“Step” symbolises partnership and progress. Each step represents the journey we take together with our clients, walking alongside them through every stage of their health journey. We’re with them as their needs change, helping them step toward a healthier future.

Community care. For life.” reinforces our deep connection and commitment to providing expert local care at all stages of life.

CEO Tassia Michaleas said, “Holstep Health is more than just a name – it’s our promise to provide compassionate, comprehensive care that evolves with our clients, ensuring we’re with them every step of the way.”

Banyule Community Health and Merri Health formally merged in October 2024, with a commitment to develop a new name and brand with community that honours the history of both organisations and represents the shared vision for the future.

The new name will officially launch in March 2025.

“We’ve joined forces to create a healthier future for our communities. Together, we are stronger. We will continue to provide our current services, delivered by the same trusted people, from our existing locations, with a focus on greater capacity to grow into the future.” Tassia
