Thunderstorm Asthma is an unusual cluster of allergic asthma flare-ups (including severe acute asthma) associated with springtime thunderstorms. It is not necessarily a special kind of asthma. However, a certain type of thunderstorm appears to be needed, together with a high pollen count(typically between October and end December), to trigger this event. Under these circumstances people who are allergic to ryegrass pollen can experience asthma symptoms during springtime thunderstorms – even if they have never had asthma before.

A carer is someone who provides care to a family member or friend who needs support, supervision and assistance with everyday living tasks. Carers are often not aware of the valued role they are providing in supporting that person to live in their community as independently as possible. Anyone can become a carer at any time.
National Carers Week is a time to recognise carers and raise community awareness about the contribution they provide to our community. It also provides the opportunity for carers to meet other carers through local event held throughout Victoria.
