Youth Foundation 3081

Youth Foundation West Heidelberg, better known as YF3081, is a youth led community strengthening program. Young people aged 12-25 years with a connection to the post code area of 3081, can make a real difference in their community by applying for grants to fund projects to address issues that concern them. 

With funds donated from the Heidelberg and East Ivanhoe Community Bank branches of the Bendigo Bank and La Trobe University young people:
• Identify an issue in their community that they would like to change
• Design a project to address the issue
• Apply for a Youth Foundation grant to fund the project
• Implement the project
• Are celebrated in the community for their positive contribution

Through the grant making process YF3081 has seen an increase in young people’s:
• Leadership skills
• Opportunities
• Literacy & numeracy
• School engagement
• Job readiness

Examples of youth led YF 3081 funded projects include:
• Stickers with positive messages to increase young people’s esteem and address bullying
• Scooters for hire at Malahang Reserve
• Student designed uniform at the Pavilion School
• Camp to the Northern Territory
• Aboriginal Debutante Ball for early school leavers
